About Little Woodlands Day Nursery
Little Woodlands Day Nursery – formerly known as Minsterworth School – is located on Minsterworth Main Road, just on the outskirts of Gloucester. With excellent access to the M5 and Gloucester City, our nursery is ideally placed for working families commuting from the Forest of Dean and surrounding areas.
Our approach to Early Years Education
We believe children learn best when they’re having fun. That’s why we’ve created stimulating environments in every room, designed to spark curiosity and encourage independence. Our team delivers exciting, play‑based experiences each day, tailored to children’s interests, while following the EYFS curriculum to support their development into happy, confident learners.
Forest school adventures
We are fortunate to have access to an acre of land where we run Forest School sessions. This unique opportunity allows children to learn, play, and develop their physical skills outdoors – come rain or shine. To ensure every child can take part safely, we provide waterproof suits, wellies, sun cream, and sun hats, so they’re ready for adventure in all seasons.
Partnerships with parents
At Little Woodlands, we work closely with parents to give children the best possible start. Families have access to their child’s own online learning journal, offering valuable insights into their progress and development. Just as importantly, our team is always available for daily chats, building strong relationships and ensuring parents feel connected to their child’s journey.
Our management team
The owners of Little Woodlands Day Nursery are Rachael & Tony Lancaster who live locally in Gloucestershire and are proud parents of four young boys. Rachael and her family have been involved in early years care for nearly 30 years.
As well as Little Woodlands Day Nursery they also run Little Lambs Day Nursery in Longlevens and Nursery Rhymes Day Nursery in Leckhampton, Cheltenham.
Due to the success of Little Lambs Day Nursery and Nursery Rhymes Day Nursery and with such positive feedback from parents, they decided to branch out to provide the same high levels of care and attention at this fabulous location, combined with the personal touch that comes from being a small family owned business.

Our adventures in the great outdoors
Outdoor exploration is a big part of how we help children grow. From muddy puddles to woodland walks, our little ones build confidence, independence and curiosity as they discover the world around them. Fresh air, open space and hands‑on experiences all play a role in supporting early learning and helping children feel brave, capable and connected to nature.
